It is reported that that the woman was shot by the police in her house as they searched for her son, a suspected drug peddler.

Pentagon Alliance youth Group President Abdi Nasir Mohammed on Sunday asked the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji to hasten the investigations.

"We want justice for mama Omar. We as the youth in Mandera are saddened by the increased extrajudicial killings in northern Kenya; the police ought to protect us," he said.

PROSECUTION

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority said they have concluded their investigations into the shooting, awaiting completion of review before submission to the DPP.

"Pursuant to its investigation mandate, the Authority received the complaint from Northern Advocacy Organisation on November 11, 2018 in respect to the death; and investigations into the circumstances leading to the death commenced. Witnesses have been interviewed, statements recorded and relevant evidence collected," a statement by chairperson Anne Makori read.
