Security officials seize explosives, arrest two individuals at checkpoiunt

Bosaso (HOL) - Security officials in Puntland have arrested two people at a checkpoint in Bosaso after discovering the pair travelling with explosives and bomb making equipment.

Puntland officials seized six boxes of explosives, hand grenades, communication equipment from a transport truck that was loaded with ordinary goods.

Puntland police have said that two men have been arrested including the driver of the vehicle.

It is not yet clear whether the pair are members of Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab or ISIS which has established a foothold in the region.

Last week, a suicide bomber loyal to ISIS detonated his explosives vest at a checkpoint in the northeastern port city of Bosaso.
