Mogadishu (HOL) - A car bomb believed to be detonated by a suicide bomber went off near a popular restaurant and hotel in Mogadishu on Friday killing one person and wounding five others, according to local witnesses.

The blast occurred on a busy street outside Central Hotel and Banooda restaurant. The explosion happened within walking distance to the presidential palace.There is no official claim of responsibility but the militant extremist group Al-Shabaab has been behind most car bomb attacks in Somalia.
Earlier this week, a car bomb explosion at a checkpoint in Mogadishu killed 6 people and wounded scores more.
