Saudi Arabia, Qatar, FCNA announce Eid al-Fitr begins on Sunday after moon sighting.

Mogadishu (HOL) - The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and a host of other countries in the Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf including Iran, Iraq, Syria,, Lebanon Yemen, Qatar, Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia will celebrate Eid on Sunday June 25.

However, Oman’s Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs has announced that Sunday, June 25, will be the last day of the Holy Month of Ramadan, and said Monday, June 26, will be the first day of Shawal or the first day of Eid al-Fitr after their committee failed to spit to crescent moon in Muscat.

The Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA), according to astronomical calculation, has already announced that Eid will be celebrated on June 25.

Many Muslim-majority countries celebrate the end of Ramadan by granting public holidays similar to Christmas or Easter holidays in the west.

Muslims are already preparing for Eid Prayers in several Australia cities according to sources.

Eid al-Fitr is signalled by the new moon is spotted in the sky, making the Eid holiday different around the world. The celebrations are a culmination of a month long of fasting during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
