Boris Johnson almost pulls Labour MP to the floor in heated TV debate

Sunday June 4, 2017

Boris Johnson almost pulled a Labour MP to the ground in a heated exchanged on live TV. The Foreign Secretary made the move when clashing with Andrew Gwynne in a live Sky interview.

The Brexit supporting Tory was being interviewed when he was gatecrashed by the Labour politician. In the midst of the argument, Boris puts his arm around his rival and tries to push him to the ground. When he fails, he smiles and says: ‘I’m so sorry’.

Gwynne tells the former Mayor of London: ‘Don’t be a pillock’.The Labour politician claimed he was supposed to be going head-to-head with Boris.

Without an earpiece, Gwynne fought over migration and the winter fuel allowance.

The pair were in York for the Question Times Leader’s Debate.

Labelling the Tory economic plans ‘economically disastrous’, Gwynne also challenged the Brexit campaigner about what deal Britain should get leaving the EU. He then rattled off World Trade Organisation costs to certain industries.

Sky News’ baffled presenter, Dermot Murnaghan, seemed exasperated with the situation.

He explained: ‘Let me just explain to the audience – it’s getting a bit chaotic as you would accept. ‘Just let me explain to the audience that you can hear me but Mr Gwynne can’t hear me.’

The Labour politician, who is contesting the Denton and Reddish seat, could not hear the desperate pleas of Mr Murnaghan.

The presenter begged: ‘Please Mr Johnson let me get a word in edgeways’. As the bizarre argument continued the interview eventually came to an end. Mr Gwynne reportedly then told Boris he needed to ‘calm down’ afterwards.
