Somalia ranked most corrupt country 10 years running

Mogadishuu (HOL) - Somalia has retained the dubious honour of being the world’s most corrupt country for the tenth consecutive year ranking, even  pariah state North Korea fared better, albeit slightly according to a report released by Transparency International

The annual report entitled Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index ranks 176 countries on a level of 0 (most corrupt) and 100 (least corrupt) on their corruption level in the public sector. Somalia scored 10 points, the lowest of all soveirgn nations.

Africa has been recognized as being  the world’s most corrupt continent with the vast majority of countries scoring below 50. 13 of the lowest 20 nations hail from Sub-Saharan Africa.

The West African Island nation of Cape Verde was the contents biggest improvers which scored 59 of a possible 100.

Analysts attribute the abysmal corruption rating on a lack of accountability as well as a the absence of anti-corruption measures.
