Bosaso (HOL) - A grenade attack at a bank in Bosaso sent residents scrambling on Friday evening sent residents into a panic and scrambling for cover.

Witnesses report two hand grenades were thrown at the headquarters of a bank in Bosaso in the early evening. Unconfirmed accounts say that two young people were seen fleeing the scene shortly after the explosions.

Security forces arrived on the scene and cordoned off the area. They told local reporters that there were casualties or serious damage to property. No arrests have been made and police say the investigation is ongoing.

There has been no immediate claim of responsibility. Police are struggling to maintain the security situation since the normally restive city of Bosses has seen an uptick in violent attacks perpetrated by violent extremist groups in recent months.
