In a presidential decree issued late Monday, president Ahmed Silanyo has appointed the aviation minister Osman Abdillahi as the information minister in the new shake-up while his predecessor Abdillahi Mohamed Dahir was appointed as the animal husbandry minister.

The new cabinet reshuffle, the third the president made since last year comes few days after Somaliland has officially started to register voters ahead of presidential elections in the region which
held previous elections.

However, no reason has been given for the new cabinet reshuffle.

The enclave has earlier announced that it will hold presidential elections in 2016, amid political uncertainty over the current president’s controversial term extension last year which sparked
protests and counter-accusations by the government and opposition
parties.

Somaliland, a breakaway region in northern Somalia has escaped Somalia's two decades civil war. Despite lacking an international recognition, Somaliland which employs its own government and army
considers itself as an independent state after it declared a unilateral independence from the rest of Somalia in 1991.
