A total of 40 army officers from nine Eastern Africa partner states have concluded a two-week standby force headquarters staff training (Standby FHQ staff) at the Junior staff college at Gaddafi barracks in Jinja.

The countries that took part included Uganda (host), Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Seychelles, South Sudan, Comoros, Somalia and Burundi. Djibouti never showed up.According to the chief of training element Col. James Kinalwa, the training that ended on Friday was aimed at preparing the Standby FHQ staff for deployment to AU/EASF mandated PSO.
It was also targeted at maintaining and enhancing the achieved capability on the command and staff duties of the multinational standby Force Headquarter staff officers.
Also, the course objective was to familiarize the participants on AU decision making processes as well as preparing Command and Staff on PSO planning process.
The army chief of land forces Brig. Gen. Leopold Kyanda presided over the pass out.
