Somalia Intel Agency and AMISOM arrest 'al Shabaab' suspects

MOGADISHU Somalia -- A joint cordon and search operation by the Somali National Intelligence Agency backed by African Union troops and Police in Hodan District, Mogadishu has seen sophisticated military equipment captured and 'al Shabaab' elements arrested.

The operation also saw the troops raid the residence of an 'al Shabaab' prime operative identified as Abduladif Osman Mohamed, where a cache of weaponry was found.

The weaponry captured includes an assortment of guns including RPG shells, AK47s, a PK barrel and several rounds of ammunition, one vehicle, mobile phones, solar panel, key documents, a pile of Somali currency and five operatives of 'al Shabaab'.

AMISOM troops together with their Somali counterparts will continue with tactical operations to ensure that Mogadishu and other areas are free of these terrorists.
