The Interior Minister of Somalia’s federal government Abdullahi Godah Barre has survived a no-confidence parliamentary vote when the parliament discussed a motion against the minister on Sunday.

115 out of 144 law makers who attended Sunday’s session voted in favour of the minister, while 18 voted against and 11 other members abstained, according to Somali parliament speaker Mohamed Sheik Osman Jawaari who announced the result of the no-confidence vote.

“I kindly thank the lawmakers for awarding their confidence on me—I declare that I will correct the mistakes that caused a motion against me to be brought before parliament” the minister Abdullahi Godah Barre said in the aftermath of the vote on Sunday.

The motion was put before the parliament by 65 PMs who accused the minister of failing to accomplish his duties.

Meanwhile, other lawmakers are preparing another motion against the minister of Internal Security Abdulkarim Hussein Guled.
