Somali President: We asked Japanese parliament to rebuild People’s Manson in Mogadishu

Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali President Hassan Sheik Mahmoud has requested Japanese parliament to reconstruct the Somali parliament’s compound the ‘People’s Manson’ in Mogadishu.

President Mahmoud made the request while visiting the Japanese parliament building on Thursday.

President Hassan Sheik Mahmoud held a crucial meeting with Japanese parliament speaker  Mr Masaaki Yamasaki and his deputy Mr Azuma Koshishu during which he delivered his demands for the reconstruction of Somalia’s parliament compound (Guriga Umadda) in Somali language.

“We asked Japanese parliament to rebuild People’s Manson in Mogadishu” Somali President said in a presidential press release of which HOL obtained a copy on Thursday.

The statement noted that Japanese parliament speaker Mr Masaaki Yamasaki praised Somali government for the achievements it made in the country for the past two years and pledged that his government will rebuild the Somali parliament.

President Mahamud for his part outlined the Japanese parliament leaders on the current situation in Somalia and in particularly the day-to-day works by the Somali parliament. The president was very jubilant at the pledges made to him by the Japanese parliament speaker Mr Masaaki Yamasaki.

At the end of the meeting, Somali president and his delegation went on a site seeing tour to the different departments of the Japanese parliament building including the conference hall.

The president is accompanied by key government ministers including: minister for foreign affairs and international cooperation Abdirahman Duale Beyle, minister of planning Said Abdullahi Mohamed, the minister of public works and reconstruction Nadifo Mohamed Osman
