Somali President in Cairo for Al Sisi inauguration

Somali President Hassan Sheik Mahmoud has arrived in Egypt to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Egyptian President Abdul Fatah Al Sisi.

The President’s delegation arrived in Cairo over night on Saturday and was received at the airport by Somali ambassador to Egypt and the Arab league Abdullahi Hassan Mahmoud and a number of Egyptian officials.

President Hassan is accompanied by key government officials including defence minister Mohamed Sheik Hassan Hamud, state minister for foreign affairs and investment Buri’Mohamed Hamza and the president’s advisor for Arab league affairs Sheik Dahir Mahmoud Gelle.

The Somali leader will be amongst scores of world leaders who will be attending Al Sisi’s inauguration on Monday.

Al Sisi recently won the presidential elections in Egypt several months after he overthrow former president Mohamed Morsi.

In the aftermath of Morsi toppling Egypt has seen violence which resulted in the deaths of several hundred people mainly supporters of the Muslim brotherhood.
