Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheik Ahmed has strongly condemned the recent attack on MPs and ordered security services to engage in an urgent investigation to arrest perpetrators.
“We will hunt down the criminals who continue to kill our people even during this holy month of Ramadan... I have ordered the security services to bring the perpetuators to justice as soon possible” said the Prime Minister in reaction to today’s assassination of long-serving MP Mohamed Mahmoud Heyd and the wounding of his colleague MP Abdullahi Ahmed Oonka.
“This is an unjustifiable killing which is totally against our culture and Islamic values” said the Prime Minister adding that the nation will prevail over its brutal enemy.
In a press statement of which HOL obtained a copy, the Prime minister sent his condolence message to the family, relatives and the close friends of the slain lawmaker.
