The mayor of Somali capital Mahamoud Ahmed Nur (Tarsan) has urged security forces to kill any Al Shabaab member they capture on the spot, saying an al Shabab member must not be taken into custody.
Addressing at a security meeting in the Howl-wadaag district in the city center, the mayor said that authorities must develop close co-operations with residents, a move which he said will help improve security of the city.
“To my surprise, why this city is always a target for terrorists or warmongers? Why the people of this city are denied access to progress and stability, we must cooperate and fight against all who want the people of Mogadishu not to enjoy in calmness and prosperity” the mayor told the meeting on Tuesday.
“Any captured AL Shabaab members must be stoned to death on the place they are captured, they don’t need to be taken to custody” the mayor told the security meeting.
He called on the city’s inhabitants to be part of the war against Al Shabaab, adding that people must not wait for security forces to eradicate what he termed as terrorists in the city.
“I call on resident of Mogadishu to inform police any information that can lead to the capture of AL Shabab members hiding in the city, that is the kind of role we want the people to play” the mayor stated.
