Somalia denies ordering closure of telecom firms

The Somali government has refuted reports that it has ordered the closure of some telecommunication operators in the country. A statement from the ministry of information said the government has no intentions to close any telecommunication company. Based on government policy on the implementation of free trade, the ICT ministry said that there is no order from the government of Somalia to close or intimidate telecommunications services providers. It said the government committed to assist business people in the implementation of free enterprise. The ministry stressed that all telecommunication companies should continue with their services.
