Somali police conduct security checks in Mogadishu

Mogadishu:-Prime minister of the Somali Federal Government, H.E. Cabdiweli Sheekh Axmed, has today on Tuesday had a very significant meeting with ministers of National Security, Interior and Mogadishu mayor with district commissioners in Benadir region.

The meeting occurred at the administrative headquarter of Benadir region in attendance with minister of national security, H.E. Abdikarim Hussein Guled, minister of interior and federalism, H.E. Cabdullahi Godah Barre, Mogadishu mayor, Mohamud Ahmed and district commissioners of Benadir following bomb attacks in the capital last night.

The Premier said, “We need clear response towards what happened in the capital in the latest two nights of the bomb attacks, you are responsible for handling these situations on behalf on the federal government, therefore we should get accountability about”.

Somali prime minister, Cabdiweli Sheikh Ahmed’s special meeting with security officials including ministers and regional heads comes as the militant group of Al-Shabab took mortar shell attacks in Mogadishu in the past two nights.

The Police explained the attacks as fabric explosive elements that did not cause casualties.

On the other hand, the police spoke about the attacks

Spokesman of the Somali Police Forces, Gen. Mohamed Yusuf Madale said that they have made an investigation based on knowledge over mortar shell attacks occurred in the capital Mogadishu last night.
Speaking to Radio Mogadishu, General Madale said the Al-qaeda linked group of Al-Shabab hurled explosive elements into six districts in Benadir region causing no casualties at all.

Spokesman of the Somali Police army, Maxamed Yusuf Madale said, “ The police made a scientific investigation over bomb attacks to night in Mogadishu, they were not deadly and huge blast, but fabric explosive elements, Al-Shabab wanted to terrorize people in the capital and they are failed”.

Mr. Madale added that over 50 people were arrested in connection with bomb attacks in Mogadishu last night after the police and security forces carried out an operation to pursue criminal acts against people sleeping in peace to show that the capital is not secure.

District commissioners of Hamar-weyne, Hamar-Jajeb, Warta-Nabbad and Dharkenlay confirmed Radio Mogadishu, the state run radio there were bomb explosions fell into those districts, but did not cause any casualty.

It was the second night the sound of mortar shells heard in the Somali capital Mogadishu, but come years of relative peace in the capital.
