Ahlu Sunna wal Jamaa (ASWJ) militia fired senior executive official Abdi Ali Fidow Sunday (September 1st) for taking unilateral decisions with the federal government, Somalia's Radio Dalsan reported.

Fidow was sacked just days after he announced a merger between ASWJ and the Somali National Army. He was accused of acting unilaterally in dealings with the Somali federal government and inappropriately accepting the newly appointed regional administration for Galgadud.

"Mr. Fidow failed to do all his tasks and we have voted against him today," ASWJ official Sheikh Omar Abdukadir said.

Fidow has contested the decision by the executive committee, arguing that they do not have the authority to remove him from his post, UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.
