France hails Somalia, Djoubaland agreement

France hails the agreement signed on 28 August in Addis Ababa by the Somali federal government and the interim administration of Djouba on the progressive integration of Djoubaland into the Somali federal sate, the deputy spokesperson of the French foreign affairs ministry, Vincent Floréani, said on Friday in Paris.

Speaking in a press briefing, he said that the signing of the agreement was an important step in the process to rebuild Somali’s federal State.

“The implementation of the agreement will be decisive so that the Djouba interim administration guarantees peace and security and so that Somali’s citizens in the region have access to public services,' the spokesperson of the French foreign affairs ministry added.

He paid tribute to the role played by the Intergovernmental Authority for Development (IGAD) and the Ethiopian foreign affairs minister, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in facilitating the conclusion of the agreement.
