Two people have been killed in a bomb explosion in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, state radio says.
The attack was carried out in the upscale district of Bole on Sunday.
Citing the Ethiopian National Security and Intelligence Service, the report said that “a bomb blast occurred at a residential house in the Bole District and killed two unidentified individuals.”
Ethiopian authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
No more details have been reported and there has been no claim of responsibility for the bombing.
In the past, Ethiopian officials have blamed rebel groups based in the south and southeast for such bomb attacks. Somalia’s al-Shabab militants have also been blamed for similar explosions.
In November 2011, Ethiopia provided assistance to Somalia’s armed forces in the battle against al-Shabab. The government in Mogadishu has been battling al-Shabab for the past six years.
Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Deslaegn stated on October 4 that Addis Ababa will not pull its troops out of Somalia.
