THE official opposition Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) has given the government a 14-day ultimatum to put up a commission of inquiry to probe the Westgate terror attacks.

CORD further accused forces within the government and security organs of “sabotaging” the efforts to probe the terror attack and threatened to take unspecified action if the matter was not resolved urgently.

“We know there is resistance from the NIS, from KDF and other police for the establishment of this commission.

"CORD will take any action it deems necessary in order to ensure the truth comes out on the circumstances surrounding and leading to the Westgate mall attack,” cautioned CORD Senator, Agnes Nzani.

The terror attacks left more than 60 people dead and scores of others injured.

President Uhuru Kenyatta had earlier said that he was going to establish a commission to probe the terror attack but no progress has been made in that regard.

The Al-Qaeda linked Al Shabaab militia claimed responsibility for the attack claiming that the onslaught was a message to Kenya to withdraw its troops from Somalia and cease further aggression towards the group.

The attack further placed several security instruments in the spotlight over their role in what would have prevented the attack.

Media flighted footage of soldiers joining in the looting of shops during the attacks.
