The Benadir regional administration and a number of Somali artists collaborated on a concert in Mogadishu's City Plaza Hotel on Thursday (February 28th) to raise funds to house and feed children living on the streets of the Somali capital.
Benadir Governor and Mogadishu Mayor Mohamud Ahmed Nur and other government officials attended the concert.
Nur said that the concert would boost the morale of the street children and improve society's perception of them, UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.
About 100 people attended the event, paying $10 each. Farhan Hidig, one of the organising artists, told Sabahi that organisers also distributed an account number to which people who want to help the children can deposit their donations.
