The Law Society of Kenya has written to the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary seeking direction on the replacement of lawyer Abdullahi Ahmednasir after the expiry of a three year term.

The Chief Justice Dr Willy Mutunga is the chair of the Judicial Service Commission.

The secretary of the Law Society of Kenya Apollo Mboya in a letter  to the Chief Registrar and secretary of the Judicial Service Commission Mrs Gladys Shollei says that one of the advocates appointed to the JSC in the year 2010 identified by the Law Society of Kenya is to serve for only three years.

Mboya says that the council of the LSK held a meeting on June 10 2013 and directed that he inquires on the date of expiry of the three year term for Ahmedsir so that it could activate the necessary procedures to fill the position.

In accordance with Section 20(3) of the Sixth schedule to the Constitution of Kenya2010, when the Judicial Service Commission is first constituted, one of the Advocates appointed to the JSC in the year 2010 identified by the LSK is to serve for three years only.

It appears this will be first case in the succession within JSC ranks for nominees from the body the regulates the practice of the Advocates in Kenya.
