SRSG Nicholas Kay has described today's decision to postpone the elections as "brave and wise" following violent clashes in parts of Puntland.
SRSG Kay said “My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I have been in touch with all sides and urged restraint.”
SRSG Kay condemned the violence and encouraged all political actors in Puntland to take the opportunity now to work together to ensure a democratic process that is peaceful and credible.
