MINOT, N.D. (AP) — The roommate of a Minot woman who authorities say was one of four people slain by a Somali man two years ago says Omar Mohamed Kalmio had threatened to beat and kill Sabrina Zephier.

Defense attorneys question Elizabeth Lambert's credibility, and say evidence in the case is circumstantial and there's nothing directly tying Kalmio to the crime.

The 28-year-old Kalmio is on trial on murder charges in the Jan. 28, 2011, shooting deaths of the 19-year-old Zephier, who was the mother of his child, and her mother, brother and mother's boyfriend. Those three bodies were found the same day in another home.

Prosecutors say Kalmio disapproved of alleged drug and alcohol use by the family.

Kalmio is a Somali national who says he is in the U.S. under political asylum.
