The State Minister for Foreign Affairs Henry
Okello Oryem also MP for Chua County in Kitgum district says the new
envoy to the war-torn country; Prof. Sam Turyamuhika arrives in
Mogadishu any time from now.
He says, "Turyamuhika will be deputized by Maj Gen Nathan Mugisha, formerly Ugandan-led AMISOM commander in Somalia."
Both Mugisha and Turyamuhika, were appointed to run the Ugandan commission in a Cabinet reshuffle in August in 2012.
Somalia is relatively peaceful following the annihilation of Al Shabaab insurgents in Mogadishu and other strategic towns.
Several western countries including United States and UK have since
been in talks with President Mohamed on supporting post-war recovery
programmes.
He says Uganda now looks at strengthening political ties with the
Mogadishu government to consolidate security gains and benefit
economically.
Shortly after the election of Mohammud, Kenya's foreign ministers led
a delegation of businessmen from Nairobi to acquaint them with the new
government.
