Two Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup organising committee members from Sudan and Somalia were on Thursday detained at a Nakuru hotel for more than seven hours after the Football Federation of Kenya (FKF) failed to pay their bills amounting to Sh230,000.
The two officials Abdigani Said Arab from Somali and Tarig Atta from Sudan were kept under a tight security check by private guards at the hotel.
At one stage there was a bitter exchange of words between the guard and the two officials as they tried to access their car also detained at the hotel parking bay.
The visibly angry officials who spoke to the media at Alpine hotel on Kanu Street said that they were blocked from leaving their rooms at 5am on Thursday when they were preparing to check out.
The two officials made futile efforts to contact FKF and Cecafa officials in Nairobi through their mobile phones but none of the Local Organising Committee members were picking their calls.
“We have been held here like prisoners since 5am in the morning and the hotel management has told us that we shall not leave,” said Abdigani.
