A two-decade-long civil war has turned Somalia to a place facing one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.

International conferences have occasionally taken place, all with the stated goal of helping to rebuild Somalia. However, on the ground, little aid has reached to the crisis-hit country.

The latest conferences on Somalia were held in London and Brussels where European Union countries pledged 1.8 billion euros in aid.

But, Somalia's foreign minister says that her country has received nothing from the European Union, but mere promises.

The humanitarian crisis in Somalia is one of the largest in the world. It’s displaced more than 1.1 million inside the country, forcing over one million more to take refugee in other states.

In addition to the humanitarian crisis brought by a civil war, Somalis are now struggling with effects of a devastating cyclone as well. Floods caused by the cyclone has paralyzed lives of people in the south, taking scores of lives.
