GENEVA: Ambassador Obaid Al Zaabi, UAE Permanent Representative to United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva has called for concerted efforts to curb the tragedy of Somali people.
Al Zaabi was addressing the Human Rights Council in Geneva on the status of human rights in Somalia before the Human Rights Council.
He welcomed the report of an independent expert Shams Al Bari, who focuses on the state of human rights in Somalia.
Al Zaabi urged the new government in Somalia to make use of the technical international assistance to build the country and overcome the humanitarian challenges.
He said the UAE has contributed $40 million since the beginning of the Somali crisis.
