CAPE TOWN - Two Somali shopkeepers were shot and killed in Philippi on Sunday following a suspected robbery.

They were gunned down by unknown attackers.

The incident occurred in Brown's Farm, while the victims were on their way to a store in the area.

Police said they could not confirm whether any money was taken from the deceased.

Police spokesperson November Filander said the two men were "in their vehicle at the time" of the attack.

“Two unknown armed males attacked the two Somali nationals who were in their vehicle at the time. It is unknown whether anything was also taken during the shooting. Witnesses indicated that these nationals were both trying to get away from the suspects when they were shot in the head.”
