Somalian children receive their school bags from Qatar Charity officials

Qatar Charity (QC) recently distributed some 500 schoolbags containing basic essentials for the new school year to orphans sponsored by QC in Somalia.

Each bag contains 10 notebooks, three pens, a packet of colour pens, textbooks and other basic stationery. The project is one of the QC programmes in Somalia, to sponsor the needy and support them.

Jasim bin Abdullah, director of social care at QC, pointed out that the project aims at easing the lives of orphans and exceeds the domain of traditional patronage. “QC aims to provide good care in all aspects such as health, education and entertainment. We also hope that these students continue to pursue their education up to the advanced levels.”

QC has enabled the orphans to start the new school year with renewed hope and energy.

The number of orphans in Somalia is on the rise because of the turbulent situation in the country.

QC sponsors more than 5,266 needy people in Somalia including orphans, Muslim clergymen, teachers, students, handicapped and underprivileged families. It gives them monthly financial allowances.

QC also sponsors around 50,000 orphans inside and outside Qatar spread over 30 different countries.
