Canada-based Allana Potash Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding with Djibouti to develop a potash terminal at Tadjourah port, the company announced in a press release Tuesday (September 11th).

The memorandum allocates land for the terminal, outlines its terms of use, and details the services that the Djibouti Port and Free Zones Authority will provide to Allana.

"Allana is pleased to have reached this next stage of co-operation with the Djibouti government in developing Africa's potash export potential," said President and CEO of Allana Farhad Abasov. "This memorandum of understanding provides the basis for Allana's long-term operations in Djibouti and is an indication of our commitment to support the development of Djibouti's national infrastructure," he said.

"Having Allana potash as a major customer at our new Tadjourah bulk port is a further indication of the global strategic value of Djibouti's port expansions," said Djibouti Port Authority CEO Aboubakr Omar Hadi. "The Tadjourah port and Allana potash terminal will help develop greater economic strength for Djibouti, particularly in the northern regions of our country."
