The British High Commissioner Dr. Christian Turner and Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Somalia Matt Baugh hosted a joint Iftar on Tuesday night at the High commissioner's residence in Muthaiga, Nairobi. The two hour functions began at 6pm and invited Muslim faithfuls gathered for iftar which is to break their fast after sunset.

After evening prayers were done, it was time to dig in to the elaborate buffet in the gardens. Dr Turner welcomed the guests as he reiterated the importance of Muslims in Kenya. “Muslims are a vital part of the fabric of Kenyan society, and have an important voice in the dialogue about the country’s future,” he said.

The event's guest of honour was the chair of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Ahmed Isaak Hassan. Other guests included Minister of State for Development of Northern Kenya Mohamed Elmi, Nairobi Law Monthly publisher Ahmednasir Abdullahi and Somali Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur.
