Somalia has successfully retained its executive committee member in the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) with Somali FA secretary general Abdi Qani elected to the executive committee member once again.

Cecafa president Tanzanian leodegar Tenga and his secretary general Nicholas Musonye of Kenya also remained in their seats of the regional football governing body during Thursday’s election.

Tenga, who also leads Tanzanian Football Federation (TFF), was unanimously elected after his supposed challenger the president of Djibouti Football Federation Hussein Fadoul  Dabar failed to come to Tanzania for the election due to a growing pressure from his government in Djibouti.

“After a marathon four days of meetings and hard jobs we have ended our election shortly before and we are now looking forward to the start of our 2011 competition,” Musonye said shortly after the election.
