Bombs were thrown at the army bases in the neighborhood of Dabakayo Madow in Dharkenley District where one of the dead soldiers died as a result of his wounds.
The Darkenley District Commissioner, Malin Abdulle Ali Hilowle, who spoke to the media this morning confirmed the attack happened and that his forces have detained two individuals suspected to be behind the attack.However,he He didn’t mention any group for being responsible for this incident.
There was commotion and confusion as the attack happened with security forces opening in different directions but no casualties have so far been reported.
The wounded soldiers and civilians were taken to the city's Madina Hospital for treatment and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Witnesses who spoke to HOL said that government soldiers had sealed off the area and detained some of the people praying in a nearby mosque some of whom they later released.
Insurgents often attack the bases of Somali government forces across Mogadishu city. The attacks are often claimed by the Alshabab group fighting the Transitional Federal Government and their AMISOM allies.
The Somali government is in control of only six districts of the capital city and has been in intense fighting for control of the entire city with the Ashabab since last month.
