Authorities have identified the 46-year-old Somali woman killed Thursday when she was hit by a semitrailer truck near the Metrodome in Minneapolis.
Ibada Omar, of Minneapolis, died about 7:20 p.m. at the intersection of 11th Avenue S. and S. 5th Street, according ot the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office.
The cause of death was determined to be "multiple blunt force injuries," according to the agency.
According to Minneapolis police, an officer driving south on 11th Avenue S. Thursday was flagged down by a witness who said a vehicle had hit a pedestrian. The witness gave the officer a brief description of the truck. Moments later, it returned to the scene.
The truck driver was taken to the police station for questioning. Tests for drugs and alcohol will be conducted, which is standard procedure.
Minneapolis police are investigating.
