Over 200 Somali youths are being detained in Angola, the Africa Review has learnt.Talking to Africa Review by phone, one of the victims Mohamed Fu’ad Sanweyne, lamented their poor living conditions, and appealed for urgent assistance.
The youngsters have reportedly been in prison for over a year, where they have been subjected to mistreatment, particularly by the Angolan prison authorities.
Majority of them ended up in Angola, after fleeing the raging conflict in Somalia.
The central government in Somalia collapsed in January 1991. Since then, it has been a tale of loss of lives and displacement of thousands of civilians as different factions fight for the control of the Horn of Africa state.
