Ali Yousif Ibrahim, a Somali national, was sentenced to death by the criminal court in Mukalla, the provincial capital of Hadramout, after he was convicted of smuggling narcotic injections into the territory of Yemen.
The court's verdict also ordered the destruction of 180 narcotic injections confiscated from the Somali man when he was arrested in June 2009.
Meanwhile, the same court on Sunday handed down a 25-year prison term against three Yemenis who were found guilty of possessing some 15 kg of hashish and resisting policemen with arms.
The three convicted, Hamad Salem Hanish, Ahmed Saleh Ahmed Jaradan and Naif Salem Hanish, were captured at a checkpoint in Hadramout in December 2009, according to Saba.
