Djibouti welcomes economic cooperation with Russia. President Ismail Omar Guelleh has invited Russian businessmen to invest in Djibouti, particularly in the energy sector, exploration of mineral resources and the search for drinking water.
Russia has technologies that are on great demand in Djibouti, Mikhail Margelov, Chairman of the Federation Council International Affairs Committee, told reporters after talks with President Guelleh.
He said that Djibouti counted on Russian assistance in creating a coast guard training center and would favor a broader Russian naval presence in the Gulf of Aden as part of an anti-piracy coalition.
