The Shabab insurgent group has today, 19 Febr. 2011 around 14:30 local time detained a video shooter in Mogadishu’s Karan neighborhood, where journalists were invited to report food distribution organized by theShabab.
Abdi Dhaqane Ciye known as Abdi Yare, Rueters cameraman, was taken along with his camera with a Surf 4x4 car around 14:30 local time and sped off, during his journalistic duties, according to journalists
withheld their names for security reasons.
Several journalists were called by Al-Shabab into the Karan police station where they were supposed to report the incident, but only Abdi Yare was targeted.
It is not yet clear why the journalists was targeted or reasons behind his arrest and where he was being taken to. The Shabab insurgents did not comment over the arrest of the journalist.
