EPS and Somali leaders are presenting a united front when it comes to investigating homicides within the community.

23 year old Mohamud Jama was shot to death early New Years day at a lounge near 111th Street and 107th Avenue.  Police say so far no witnesses have come forward but are confident that someone knows something.

"It is clear that both the Edmonton Police Service and the Somali community share the same interests, and that is solving the Jama homicide, preventing any future violence and solving previous homicides."  Says Acting Police Chief David Korol when asked about the relationship between EPS and the Somali community.

Posters detailing the need for witness to come forward is the latest effort by EPS and the community.  The posters list the names of a dozen murder victims of Somali decent who's cases remain unsolved. (ls, twd)
