Somali Shopkeeper Killed In Delft Robbery

Western Cape police have confirmed the death of a Somali shopkeeper during a robbery attempt in Delft last night.

Police spokesperson Joe Wilson said : "Last night at approximately 21:40 two Somali shopkeepers came under fire whilst trading at Milano spaza shop. It is alleged that two unknown males approached the shopkeepers... the one suspect fired two shots at the shopkeeper, 30-year-old Idiris Haji”.

The robber subsequently failed to enter the store and fled, but not before throwing a petrol bomb into the store.

The second man managed to escape serious harm thanks to the intervention of local residents.

Police are investigating a case of murder, attempted murder and arson.
