President Yoweri Museveni has this evening received and held a meeting with a visiting American delegation led by the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Mr. Karl Wycoff, who called on him at State House, Nakasero.The President and the US delegation discussed a range of issues, especially security in the region and Somalia in particular. Mr. Museveni and his guests also delved into matters pertaining to how the region and the international community could work together to support the peace process in Somalia.
Mr. Karl Wycoff and his delegation are in the region to consult on a range of issues, including the developments in the Horn of Africa as a whole.
Mr. Wycoff who thanked President Museveni for receiving him and his delegation, commended the role the Government of Uganda is playing in trying to bring peace in war torn Somalia.
State Minister for International Affairs, Mr. Okello Oryem, the American Ambassador to Uganda Mr. Jerry P. Lanier and Uganda’s Envoy to Addis Ababa and Permanent Representative to the AU, Ambassador Mull Katende, among others, attended the meeting.
