In a bilateral discussion between the Republic of Djibouti's minister of energy, water and natural resources Fouad Ahmed Aye and India's minister of new and renewable energy Farooq Abdullah talked about the possibility of the two countries working together to explore Djibouti's renewable energy potential.
Mr. Aye informed India's minister that Djibouti has vast potential in the areas of geothermal, solar and wind energy. However, he said that in order to exploit these resources, they need India's assistance. Djibouti's minister expressed his desire to sign an agreement between the two countries.
Welcoming the suggestion, Mr. Abdullah recommended the possibility of Indian experts visiting Djibouti that will lead to the eventual signing of an agreement.
In addition to seeking aid in exploiting renewable energy sources, Mr. Aye also requested assistance in providing training in harnessing their nation's geothermal energy. – L. Polintan
