TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi is scheduled to pay a visit to Somalia in the next few days to facilitate the process of delivery of aid to the famine-stricken people of the country.
In addition to holding talks with Somali officials, Salehi plans to examine the ways through which humanitarian aid is being delivered to the famine-hit people and to assess what supplies they require.
The main part of Iran’s humanitarian aid will also be handed over to Somali relief organizations during Salehi’s trip.
Iran has recently sent its third cargo of humanitarian aid to famine-wracked Somalia.
Iranian officials also announced that a cargo of humanitarian assistance weighing 100 tons will be shipped to the African country soon.
The two aid cargos that Iran had previously dispatched to Somalia went to the aid of 100,000 Somalis who are struggling with death.
