Sunday, May 02, 2010 (HOL) - Hizbul Islam, the Somali hard-line militias seized Amara village about 90 km to Harardere district in central Somalia early Sunday morning.

According to a telephone conversation with Hiiraan Online, Mohamud Mohamed, a resident said that the militia sent 300 well armed men to seize the town.

“The Somali Pirates who kidnapped the British couple are back in Amara Village, and the leaders of Hizbul Islam have a good relationship with the pirates.” Mohamud adds.

“Hizbul Islam officials met with Pirates on Saturday night and agreed to hold the couple in Amara village and as of now (Sunday morning) they are together in the town,”

The British couple held hostage by pirates in Somalia has been relocated on Sunday after Pro-Al-Qaeda militants Al-Shabab entered Harardere, where the pirates operate.

The Chandlers were kidnapped on their yacht in October 2009 while they sailed in the Indian Ocean.

Pirates in Somalia are holding more than 300 foreign hostages from hijacked ships.
