MOGADISHU (Reuters) - Four Ugandan peacekeepers were killed in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Monday when insurgents fired mortars at the presidential palace, an African Union spokesman said.
"We lost 4 Ugandan soldiers in mortar fire on Villa Somalia this morning," Barigye Ba-Hoku told Reuters, referring to the presidential palace. He said another eight Ugandan soldiers were wounded.
Uganda and Burundi have deployed more than 6,300 troops to the anarchic Horn of Africa nation to guard the port and airport and shield Sheikh Sharif Ahmed from attack. (Reporting by Abdi Sheikh, editing by Richard Lough).
