The European Union (EU) has strongly condemned Tuesday's attack on a hotel in Mogadishu that killed 31 people, including six Somali MPs. In a statement issued in Brussels Thursday, the EU extended its condolences to the families of the victims, while expressing its solidarity with all the Somali people.
The EU also reiterated its support for the transitional federal government of Somalia.
The attack was claimed by the terrorist organisation Al-Shabab.
The EU, in collaboration with the African Union, the UN and the US, has begun a training mission for 2,000 troops of the Somali security forces in training camps based in Uganda.
