MOGADISHU (HOL) - The Transitional Federal Government of Somalia (TFG) has announced plans to combat insurgent groups currently waging war against the government.The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mr. Abdirahman Abdishaku Warsame told reporters that the TFG has carried out security operations to restore security to the country and plans further security operations.
“These security operations are intended to defeat groups who are obstacle to peace in Somalia and we hope that these security operations will allow the TFG to take control of the country, particularly Mogadishu” said the Minister.
The Minister added that the TFG will carry out the security operations in parallel with efforts to talk to any group that is interested in solving the country’s problems through peaceful means.
The Minster’s remarks come at time when forces from the TFG and insurgents are facing each other in several areas in the city after recent fighting has failed to produce a clear winner.
