MOGADISHU (HOL) - In a press conference held in Mogadishu, the Spokesman of Al-Shabab Movement Sheik Ali Mohamud Raage said that the recent decision by IGAD and the AU to impose blockade on air and sea ports controlled by insurgents fighting the TFG as a plan to harm people who live in those areas.

IGAD and the AU recently took the decision to impose blockade on air and sea ports under the control of groups opposed to the TFG because it is believed that insurgents use taxes collected from these ports to buy weapons which are used to fight the TFG.

The Spokesman added that the blockade only affects Muslims and that non-Muslims are allowed to use the ports. “Areas controlled by the Mujahideen are peaceful and we do not collect taxes from the people who use these facilities” said the Spokesman.

The Spokesman also said that the recent extension of AMISOM operations in Somalia indicate the hatred towards Muslims and the efforts to prevent them from controlling their destiny and practising Islam.

In concluding his remarks, the Spokesman asked the media to call them Shababul Mujahideen Movement or not to cover news that concerns them.
